Since Jennifer Aniston's debut at hit-show "Friends" more than a decade ago, her iconic "Rachel hair" has had its considerable share of spotlight.

Aniston, 42, constantly landed on all the "Best Hair" lists (still does) and became so requested in salons everywhere, that the term "Rachel hair" was coined.

When she cut off her famous locks in February, there was an almost audible sigh of regret from women all over the world.

It didn't take long for her chic new bob to garner its own popularity, but still one wonders why stray so far from what already was a good thing?

The January issue of In Style magazine gets to the bottom of Aniston's surprising transformation.

"The real reason I cut my hair? My real hair was getting thinned out again from all the extensions," the actress admits to In Style.

"It was starting to look fake," she adds.

If the fashion darling Aniston thinks she's on the verge of looking fake, the haircut did the trick. It gave the 42-year-old actress a refreshing glow that's truly red carpet worthy.

The A-List star is ending the year on a high note, topping other (non-hair related) lists.

Men's Health named her its "Hottest Woman of All Time", beating out ninety-nine other famous ladies of the past and present to bag the number one spot.

"Other sex symbols drift toward one-dimensionality, becoming flat icons in the process, but throughout her career Aniston has remained sexy, funny, and unmistakably real," the write-up for Aniston reads.

Her down-to-earth humility is another endearing quality of the actress, apparent even in the short interview with the men's magazine.

"It's a tie between Bridgette Bardot and Gloria Steinem. But if I had to choose one, I'd say Gloria because, well, she's the whole package. That's sexy," she tells Men's Health.

In a poll by Fitness magazine, Aniston was named the celebrity that most inspires women's fitness goals, and the celebrity both men and women want as a workout buddy.
