Jennifer Aniston's Weight Gain In 'Cake': Actress Says She 'Stopped Working Out'
Jennifer Aniston recently talked about her transformation for her upcoming movie "Cake." She said that she especially gained weight for the role.
"I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am; I was still healthy, but I'd allow more," she said during a Q&A session, according to Mail Online. The actress also said that makeup techniques were used to make her look dowdy. The 45-year-old actress dyed her golden locks black.
In the film she plays Claire Simmons, a woman who lives in Los Angeles and is suffering from chronic pain after an accident. Apart from her own problems, she tries to uncover the truth about another woman's suicide.
Reportedly, Aniston also had to wear a fake scar on her face to signify the injuries that her character sustained in the accident. The filmmakers hired a makeup artist who was an expert in making scars, and after a few trials a particular kind of scar was finalised, which looked like "Chainsaw Massacre kind of stuff," according to Aniston.
Aniston also spoke about her preparation for the role. She said that she had to completely get into the skin of the character and had to get rid of her own persona. She understood the logistics and tried to connect with the emotions of a person who is suffering from a personal tragedy. She also mastered the voice of Claire Simmons, reports US Weekly.
"Cake" is already being raved about in the critics' circle. The film reportedly received a standing ovation at the Toronto Film Festival. Moreover, it is also being said that Aniston may get an Oscar nomination for playing the intense role.
The makers of the film decided to cast Aniston as they think she has immense potential as an actress. "When my life and producing partner Ben Barnz and I first read 'Cake' just fourteen months ago, we knew we had to go to Jennifer Aniston," said director and executive producer of the film Daniel Barnz to Deadline.
"Cake" is set to be released in January 2015. The cast includes Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington, Adriana Barraza, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy and more. The film was written by Patrick Tobin.
