The 54th Annual Grammy Awards held tribute to the late singer Whitney Houston with the winners paying their respects to the singer, including an emotional performance from RnB artist Jennifer Hudson.

The death of Whitney Houston overshadows this year's Grammy Awards. The award-giving body is known for giving recognition to the best singers and performers in the world. Thus, this year's Grammy Awards held tribute to the singer who was found dead in her hotel room in Los Angeles yesterday at the prime age of 48.

The untimely death of Whitney Houston came as shock to everyone. Noted as one of the best singers and a pillar in the music industry, Whitney Houston contributed greatly to the recognition of the singing prowess of African Americans during her time.

One of the singers that paid tribute to Whitney is soul singer Jennifer Hudson who belted out an emotional performance of Whitney's successful cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" following the "we remember" compilation of the performers the music industry had lost over the past year. Hudson ended the song by altering the original lyrics to, "Whitney, we love, we love you."

In 2008, Jennifer Hudson received her first Grammy Award for Best RnB Album. To make the moment more special, Jennifer accepted the award from Whitney Houston who presented the award. At a pre-Grammy event, Hudson said Houston's tune "I Will Always Love You" inspired her, adding that she would "create duets with her because I wanted to sing with Whitney Houston." Hudson was reportedly in tears during rehearsals, but was able to make it through the performance.
