Jennifer Hudson Says She’s 'Proud' of Fellow 'American Idol' Alum Ruben Studdard on 'Biggest Loser' [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
Noting that her fellow “American Idol” alum, Ruben Studdard is taking the road she traveled losing weight, Jennifer Hudson expressed her support as he tries to shed off unwanted weight.
And truly Jennifer is the right person to speak out about Ruben’s journey after reaching size 6 from 16 since she began losing weight in 2010.
After two years of hard work, Jennifer lost 80 pounds and she has kept her fit frame since then. Her weight loss journey has earned Jennifer to become an official spokeswoman for Weight Watchers. According to Us Magazine, Jennifer has managed to keep her weight and continues to inspire others with her hard work.
One convinced to follow suit is Ruben. The 35-year old “Idol” winner weighs 462 pound when he joined “The Biggest Loser.” Ruben hopes to slim down and reach a healthier weight.
For Jennifer, Ruben is doing a fine job and she expressed support for the fellow “Idol” alum.
Speaking to reporters at the God’s Love We Deliver 2013 Golden Heart Awards held in New York City on Oct. 15, Jennifer noted that what Ruben has started entails commitment.
“I am so proud of Ruben,” Jennifer said, according to Us Magazine.
"It’s one thing to lose weight, it’s another thing to keep it off. I do believe if he’s gone this far to make that commitment, he’ll make it. Just keep that mindset. I was just so happy for him. It’s a journey. He has to find his niche and work in his own time." she added.
Jennifer finished seventh on third season of American Idol. But she has accomplished far more than most of the show’s alum. No "Idol" winner has ever received an Oscars award and even if she came as Top 7 finalist in 2004.
But her debut film, “Dreamgirls” in 2006 has won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress category. She won more awards for the same role, including, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA award, NAACP Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Jennifer has been recognized not only for her acting skills but for what she was known for in the first place - - her music. She won a Grammys for her debut album, “Jennifer Hudson.” Released in 2008, her first album was certified gold by RIAA after 800,000 copies of record sales in the U.S. and more than 1 million copies worldwide. Her succeeding album, “I Remember Me,” nabbed the top 2 spot in the Billboard 200.
Her success and contribution in the music industry has never stopped since then. Jennifer Hudson is also a passionate advocate particularly for those with weight problems.
