Jennifer Lawrence: Being Fat Is OK, Oscar Winner Angry And Unabashed
'Hunger Games' Actress Covers Harper's Bazaar Nov 2013
Jennifer Lawrence pledges to defy the conventions of Hollywood. She pledges to not to succumb to the pressure of weight loss, that is created in there.
The industry, for a long time, has been a dictator of sorts. Since time immemorial, Hollywood has been characterizing what is desirable and undesirable. These stereotypes have dominated the minds of people since forever.
Fans have all loved Jennifer's cherubic and radiant face, but the cruel Hollywood has not been too welcoming to her appearance when she was just starting. Expressing her resentment over the issue, the actress who has received innumerable laurels -- including an Oscar Award -- for her performances has confessed to have been brutally criticized about her weight, overlooking her talent. People have conveyed distaste about her fuller appearance and claiming it to be a reason that could put her career at stake.
In tinsel town, being slender and svelte is acceptable but anything other than that is often perceived to be objectionable. Undoubtedly, it results in compelling people to manipulate and maneuver to achieve goals that may affect one's self esteem. That may damage one's morale and self-regard.
Something similar has been felt by the much loved, Oscar-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence. She stunningly adorns the cover page of the November issue of Harper's Bazaar UK magazine and gets candid about her feelings as she recalls being called fat, in the beginning of her career. The interview voices her resentment over the argument that makes acquiring slim figure imperative to the actresses, making it a requisite to strive in the industry.
"I was young. It was just the kind of s**t that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that", Jennifer says.
But since she has grown up, she is firm to take her stand and put aside any such invaluable criticism. She also detests the idea of dieting to change her and warns 'them' to never bring it up to her.
The candid interview of Lawrence is likely to send out a valuable message of self-worth to her fans, who will see that for Jennifer, beauty lies in one's thoughts and one's good work.
