The two biggest stars in the film industry are in a neck-to-neck battle against each other for a prestigious film role. It's' "The Hunger Games" versus "Twilight" in an all new light.

Rumor has it that Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart are both eyeing the same role as Peyton Loftis in the highly-anticipated film, "Lie Down in the Darkness." Who should get the role: The girl on fire or the vampire?

William Styron's edgy novel, "Lie Down in the Darkness," has caught the attention of Hollywood's' "it" girls, Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence. Despite the fact that there are lot of other roles for the taking in Hollywood, Kristen and Jennifer have their eyes set out for only one and that would be to play Peyton Loftis in the film adaptation of the novel.

"It is very unusual for two actresses to be so vocal in lobbying for a role," shared a source to the New York Post, adding, "and even more unusual that they are the two hottest young actresses of the moment."

So what is "Lie Down in the Darkness" all about that has got Kristen and Jennifer hooked on getting the role? Styron's novel revolves around the story of a psychologically weak woman, Peyton Loftis, who is preyed upon by her own father. The story is set in the late 1950's in Virginia.

Production is set for next year and Scott Cooper is in the production seat. Cooper is known for the film "Crazy Heart" and is currently filming a thriller. "Out of Furnace" with Zoe Saldana and Christian Bale. Given this statement, Kristen and Jennifer are doing everything to be chosen for the role. Getting the role is one hell of chance to be nominated for an Oscar.

"I want to play Peyton more than anything I can possibly taste or touch in my life. I want to play her so bad," said Kristen Stewart in her interview with the June issue of Elle Magazine.

"They're the most [bleeped]-up family. There's a script adaptation . . . and it's good. Two people vying for the part [of the father] are Daniel Day-Lewis and Colin Firth. Daniel would be perfect," continued Stewart.

Meanwhile, what does Jennifer Lawrence have to say about the role?

"I am obsessed with that part. I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play . . . If someone else gets the part, I'm afraid they won't do it right. I'm trying to write the director . . . to convince him that I should be in his movie. I'll chase him if I have to. I'll sit outside his house," shared Lawrence in an interview with W magazine.

Judging from both stars' films and roles, who is best suited to play the psychologically damaged damsel, Peyton: Kristen Stewart of "Twilight" or Jennifer Lawrence of "The Hunger Games"?
