Jennifer Lawrence Visits Patients in a Children's Hospital in Her Hometown
Jennifer Lawrence brings holiday cheer to young patients and their families in a children's hospital in her hometown, Louisville, KY. "The Hunger Games" star dropped by at Kosair Children's Hospital on Dec. 22, dressed in plaid shirt and jeans, to visit the young patients confined there and their families accompanying them.
She posted over her Twitter account (@JenniferUpdates) a series of photos shot during her visit. One of those photos was of Jennifer wearing a yellow hospital gown while inside one of the hospital rooms.
Another photo, described as 'touching' by E! Online, was that with a patient named Wesley Sizemore in a hospital room decorated with camo print, toy soldiers and other military decor.
Jennifer also posed with a few more patients and the hospital staff, as shown in two more photos posted online.
The year 2013 was indeed a good one for the 23-year-old actress. Earlier this year, she got her very first Oscar as Best Actress for the film "Silver Linings Playbook." Then the second installment of "The Hunger Games" trilogy, "Catching Fire," gained massive critical and commercial success. And just this month, the 70s-themed film "American Hustle" is making waves among the critics and moviegoers. Her portrayal of a con artist's wife landed her the Best Supporting Actress award from the New York Film Critics' Circle.
Despite all that success, Jennifer has remained grounded and unafraid to speak her mind. She actively advocates positive body image ('It should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV'), makes fun of herself ('I fell because the fabric of my dress got stuck under my foot') and even gushes on celebrity fans ('Julia Roberts talked about me!').
Above all, she has a soft spot for children. During the "Catching Fire" premiere in London last November, Jennifer went out of her way in the red carpet to approach a wheelchair-bound fan. She even signed an autograph and posed for a picture with her.
