Jennifer Lopez On Her 2004 Split With Ben Affleck: 'It Felt Like My Heart Had Been Torn Out Of My Chest'
Jennifer Lopez was devastated after she and Ben Affleck ended their relationship. In her first memoir, "True Love," published by Penguin, Random House, Lopez has opened up about her break up with Ben Affleck and has shared how her dream of a "fairy tale wedding" got shattered.
"It felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest," Lopez said in her book, according to Daily Mail. Lopez and Affleck dated each other from 2002 to 2004. In a move that surprised a lot of people, Affleck put a £700,000 pink diamond engagement ring on Lopez's finger. The two, however, pulled the plug on their engagement a few days before their wedding. In her memoir, the singer and actress has shared that the end of the engagement was "devastating."
At the book launch event, Lopez said, as quoted by NY Daily News, "I really felt like I had found somebody great and he had found somebody great and we thought we could make it work."
Soon after his break up with Lopez, Affleck tied the knot with Jennifer Garner. The two met on the sets of Pearl Harbour. Lopez started dating Marc Anthony. It was after five months of break-up with Affleck that she walked down the aisle with Anthony. She and Anthony are parents to twins Emme and Max.
Lopez writes in her book that she had a whirlwind romance with Anthony because she wanted to feel "loved in her loneliest hour." Lopez and Anthony's separated in 2011. Anthony is now getting married to Shannon De Lima.
Lopez is currently single. She recently ended her relationship with Casper Smart. They had dated for two years and reportedly continue to be friends. At the book launch event, she admitted that she is undergoing therapy and she thinks that the only way to heal oneself is to be happy "all by yourself." However, in spite of the heartbreak, Lopez has not given up the hope to find her Mr. Right. She said that she is hopeful "someone great will come along," as reportd by NY Daily News.
