Mariah Carey is out, but Jennifer Lopez is back in? The producers of "American Idol" still have no stars in mind on who will replace the show's judges next season, but the "Live It Up" singer has allegedly volunteered to do the show again.

Last week, duelling divas Mariah and Nicki Minaj announced that they are departing the show after seating on the judges' panel for the whole of season 12. Original judge Randy Jackson also revealed before the season concluded last month that he would also be leaving the show.

With Randy leaving, J. Lo, who was a judge in season 10 and 11, saw it as an opportunity to come back.

"J. Lo's manager, Benny Medina, was in talks wih FOX even before Mariah and Nicki announced their departures last week," an insider told RadarOnline.com.

"Benny told FOX that she does indeed want to return. They're talking. Negotiations are in their infant stages, but they're underway to get her back to the judges' table."

Country star Keith Urban is the only judge who has yet to announce whether he will return or not, saying he also doesn't know the producers' plans. He will probably be let go, though, since it's reported that FOX wanted a fresh set of judges for the upcoming season.

Although some FOX execs are agreeable to J. Lo's return, there are others that feel the show's winning alumni, like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, and Adam Lambert could revive the show's sagging ratings, according to the Web site's sources.

J. Lo allegedly wanted to return to "Idol" because the show will allow her to be grounded in Los Angeles, where she raises her five-year-old twins Max and Emme.

"The twins will enter kindergarten in the Fall and stability is important for them - and J. Lo - at this time. She's looking for possible schools for the kids in Los Angeles at the moment," the source said.

"Plus, if she's living in L.A. full-time she will be able to focus on her film career and other ventures, including her fashion business."
