Jeremy Lin's Trade To Los Angeles Lakers Is An Opportunity To Reinvent His Brand
Jeremy Lin's trade to the Los Angeles Lakers might be an opportunity for him to reinvent and prove himself as a legitimate NBA player.
In 2012, Lin made a global phenomenon dubbed as Linsanity due to his stellar two-month performance with the New York Knicks but his fame was short-lived when he incurred a torn meniscus in his left patella.
Thus far, it appears that the Linsanity movement is not yet over, as a Lin action figure is already in circulation and a wax statue was recently unveiled at the Madam Tussauds wax museum in San Francisco, which looks a lot like the Lin figure that appeared at the Madame Tussauds location in Beijing, with the Houston Rockets' uniform changed with Los Angeles Lakers'.
Lin had to meet Madame Tussauds' artists for measurement to ensure that the end product will look like the 26-year-old basketball player, said Eric Pincus of Los Angeles Times, according to an article on Yahoo Sports.
Jeremy Lin's brand appears here to stay and it is expected to even strengthen with his move to the Los Angeles Lakers - one of the most storied franchises in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
However, this is not only about improving the marketability of the Asian-American basketball player but it is also an opportunity for him to seize the basketball opportunity that is in front of him.
The 26-year-old is not trying to duplicate the Linsanity phenomenon but his goal is just to be an effective player for the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I'm not trying to relive that banner season," Lin revealed to the reporters at a press conference.
Linsanity has been a huge weight on Lin's shoulders and he revealed that he is not trying to recreate the phenomenon that happened when he was in New York Knicks. He also emphasised that he wanted to be himself more this time.
Meanwhile, Adidas is reportedly moving ahead with a special Rocket-inspired Adidas crazy 8 sneakers project although Jeremy Lin is no longer with the Houston Rockets. Earlier this year, Lin signed a deal with Adidas, which started the Rockets-inspired crazy 8 sneakers.
