Miss Australia landed on the Top 5 in this year's Miss Universe. Jesinta Campbell was named third runner-up while the title went to Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete.

Miss Australia took a question from Nikki Taylor.

Taylor asked her "Legislation banning certain kinds of religious clothing has caused controversy around the world. What role should government play in determining such personal preference?"

Jesinta acknowledge "freedom of choice" and said she does not feel that governments should have say in what people wear "because we all make our personal choices."

Also on the Top 5 was first runner-up Miss Jamaica, third runner-up Miss Ukraine and fourth runner-up Miss Philippines. 83 contestants participated in the pageant.

The 19-year-old Campbell was included in the narrowed down list of Top 15 along with other beauty queens from Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Mexico, Belgium, Ireland, South Africa, France, Jamaica, Russia, Albania, Colombia, Guatemala, the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
