It seems Jessica Chastain just scored her biggest role to date - as Princess Diana.

The 30-year-old actress recently landed the role of the fallen princess in the biopic 'Caught in Flight', which revolves around Lady Diana Spencer's affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan.

More high-profile actresses like Charlize Theron, Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson have all been rumored to play her in different projects, but Chastain was the first one confirmed to play the princess in a film.

'Caught in Flight' is described by Huffington Post as a "love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man", giving hints into its fairytale-like execution.

The biographical feature will be helmed by German director Oliver Hirschbiegel, whose film credits include the critical darlings "Das Experiment" and "Downfall."

Pre-production will begin in March, encompassing locations around the globe such as Pakistan, Angola and France. The Paris scene is sure to be the most awaited as it was the site of Diana's fatal car crash.

In 1997, the real Princess of Wales died at age 36.

Khan, her alleged partner whom she endeared as "Mr. Wonderful", is said to be the love of her life. They are said to have met in 1995, and went on a two-year relationship-slash-journey, which continued until the Royal's death.

The doctor told all of these in an expose back in 2008 to Britain's Telegraph after his long silence. He added that they have been considering marriage, even as far as planning Diana's departure from Britain and the monarchy.

One of the Princess' close friends, Rose Monckton, said of the affair, "She was very much in love with him. She hoped that they would be able to have a future together. She wanted to marry him."

And while lots of Brits have successfully played roles as Americans, the reverse has rarely happened, adding to the pressure that Chastain must be feeling right now regarding the role.

Only a year ago, she's a nobody, but in the course of a few months, she became a film festival favorite in films such as 'The Tree of Life', 'The Help' and 'Take Shelter'.

Can a newcomer pull off a believable Diana?
