Tina Simpson had reportedly threatened to shoot herself and ex-husband Joe. Jessica Simpson's mom had reportedly been so devastated over finding out about Joe Simpson's gay affair that she thought to end it all.

The Simpson matriarch filed for divorce from the former pastor last year after 35 years of marriage amid rumours of Joe's homosexual affair with a young male model. Tina cited "discord or conflict of personalities" as grounds in the divorce papers she filed in Texas.

The family denied the reports, insisting that the split was amicable and that there was no third party involved.

"Any other related allegations are completely false," their rep told the media. "The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."

However, RadarOnline.com is now reporting that Tina threatened to shoot herself and Joe after she discovered his Joe's trysts with 21-year-old male model Bryce Chandler Hill in August. She discarded her plan, though, and instead went to a New York hotel to confront Joe and his lover.

"Tina was so distraught when she found out about Joe's secret gay affair, she immediately wrote a suicide note," a source revealed to Radar.

"It was fairly detailed and she said she wanted to shoot herself for what Joe had done to their 35-year marriage. Worse still, Tina wanted to shoot Joe as well. She was so angry with him."

When Joe returned to their Encino home, he found the note and handed it to his divorce lawyers as a bargaining tool for the divorce settlement.

The trick apparently worked. Last month, it was reported that Tina was pressured to give half of the family's fortune to Joe.

Both Tina and Joe had a hand in helping Jessica and her sister Ashlee become stars. Though Jessica's career singing flourished, it was her fashion line, the Jessica Simpson Collection, that is said to be worth over a billion dollars.
