Jian Ghomeshi Hires ‘Finest’ Lawyer in Canada to Fight Sexual Harassment Allegations
Jian Ghomeshi hired criminal lawyer Marie Henein to fight allegations of sexual harassment against him. A number of women and a man recently accused the former CBC host of sexual abuse.
Ghomeshi showed that he was all set to fight against the accusations against him by hiring Henein. According to Toronto Sun, Henein is arguably the finest defence lawyer in Canada. She is known for not hesitating to go to "war for her clients" and winning it for them. Ghomeshi's lawyer has nicknames like "Machete Marie" and "Hand Grenade Henein." She is noted for her tenacious nature and abilities to shield her clients with a top level of defence. According to the official web page of her firm, her company is recognised for providing its clients with committed and dedicated advocacy.
Ghomeshi may have made the perfect choice in his defence as a lot have changed within a week. He used to be a radio celebrity in the previous week. However, he became a "fallen star" for many since CBC had terminated him apparently due to his "unacceptable" sexual practices. At least nine women accused Ghomeshi of sexual harassment at work. Several of them alleged that they had suffered sexual violence by the Canadian radio host. Even a man, who used to work with Ghomeshi at York University, claimed that Ghomeshi had groped and fondled him all of a sudden. The man, now an e-learning specialist, apparently manhandled him and warned that Ghomeshi should not repeat such an act again. Some hidden skeletons have apparently started coming out of Ghomeshi's closet all of a sudden.
That is why "Machete Marie" is the perfect choice for Ghomeshi. She has previously defended people like NHL hockey agent David Front and former attorney general Michael Bryant. Bryant said that Henein had "channelled Hannibal Lecter" in order to win the case for him. She is extremely proficient at making her cross-examination effective and meticulous. If Toronto Police leave any loose ends in the case, Henein is expected to take advantage of it.
Sally Armstrong from The Star said that Ghomeshi's incident had "shamed, hurt and sidelined women." However, it was not about Ghomeshi; she said. "It's about the moment that has presented itself like a dawning," Armstrong added.
