Jill Meagher has been found dead six days after she was reported missing by her family. Her body was found Thursday on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Here is a look back to the case of ABC Radio manager Jill Meagher, a 29-year-old Irish woman who had been living in Melbourne for several years until her disappearance:

  • - Ms Meagher, wife of Tom Meagher, was last seen alive on Friday last week (Sept. 21). She was with friends in Bar Etiquette in Brunswick. She reportedly refused offers from friends to walk her home, which is only five minutes from the bar.
  • - 41-year-old Adrian Bayley was charged with the rape and murder of Ms Meagher. Police believes he is the man seen in the CCTV footage taken from a bridal shop in Brunswick. The footage, time stamped around 1:40 a.m., shows an unidentified man approaching Ms Meagher outside the shop. (Watch the CCTV footage here or play the video below.)
  • - Police arrested Bayley in Coburg. He was initially uncooperative. But after several hours in custody, Coburg gave police the needed information to find Ms Meagher's body.
  • - Australian news website theaustralian.com.au describes the crime as "a genuinely random, opportunistic attack."

On the social networking site Facebook, friends and family of the victim created the "Help us find Jill Meagher" page. Over 122,000 showed support.

Today (Friday), the latest Facebook status of the group read:

"We thank you for your on-going support. Please remember that it is inappropriate to post speculation or comments about matters before the courts."

The appeal is made to stop sympathizers from intervening with the course of Australian law.
