Jim Carrey's ex, Cathriona White, hinted of suicide before her death
Reports regarding Cathriona White’s death claim she may have committed suicide. Before her death on Monday, it was said that the makeup artist had already hinted of such on her Twitter page.
Four days before White's death, she posted a tweet about wanting to leave “this dull earth.” According to TMZ, it was on that same day that she and Jim Carrey had broken up for the second time. Three days prior to her reported suicide, she had bid everyone farewell on Twitter.
Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Indepent.ie that “the final cause of death has not been confirmed, pending an autopsy.” However, it’s believed White overdosed on pills since they were found next to her when police responded to a call at her Los Angeles home in Sherman Oaks. White was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:46 p.m. Sources told TMZ that two of White’s friends found her unconscious that night when they checked up on her and called the police.
A note was reportedly also found next to White’s body. TMZ said the note was addressed to Carrey, and it referenced their breakup on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Talking to E! News, Carrey has since expressed his sorrow upon learning the death of his ex-girlfriend. He shared his condolences to White’s family and friends and to “everyone who loved and cared about her.”
"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt,” Carrey said in a statement sent to E! News.
White’s family declined to speak further about the incident, sending only a statement to Independent.ie, which says that they “sincerely regret the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister." The 28-year-old “was loved deeply by her entire family” and was considered as a “shining light” in their lives.
“We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss,” the statement read.
