Jimmy Choo co-founder Tamara Mellon said in an interview that her former business partner Mr Choo never gave her a single sketch. The original idea, according to Mellon, was for Jimmy Choo to lead the design aspect for their collection while she runs the business. Mellon later realised that Jimmy Choo's expertise was making shoes.

Described by Mellon as a "cobbler," Choo rose to fame when he started making custom shoes for the likes of Princess Diana. Mellon knew Jimmy Choo when she still worked at Vogue and later sought the cobbler from the East End of London to start a shoe business.

The Malaysian Chinese designer declined to comment about Mellon's revelation.

In Mellon's memoir titled "In Her Shoes," she says she owes her success to her difficult childhood. She also mentioned in her interview with TODAY that her mother was an alcoholic.

While Mellon's mother declined to comment, her brother Gregory Yeardye said their mother was not an alcoholic nor were they abused as children. He told the Daily Mail, "We were spoiled. Had it not been for them, Jimmy Choo would not exist."

The earliest exposure of little girls to shoes, however, probably comes from the enchanting tale of Cinderella -the shoe ultimately cementing her happiness with her Prince Charming.

But long before many women went gaga over high heeled shoes, women were already shoe-crazy -from flats to boots to any kind of footwear that will make them feel good about themselves.
