J.K. Rowling’s New Post From ‘Harry Potter’ Series On PotterMore Is About Albus Dumbledore
A new post by J.K. Rowling from the "Harry Potter" book series deals with Albus Dumbledore and the Order of Merlin. The post also talks about an undeserving recipient of the prestigious award. This is the last of the 12 posts written by the author as a Christmas special. [Warning: Spoilers Alert!]
Members of the PotterMore website got a chance to read about the funeral arrangements of Albus Dumbledore. The post is accompanied by an audio by a man speaking about how Harry Potter felt utterly alone after the death of his headmaster. The audio also reminds the readers that Lord Voldemort was the one who killed all of the boy's protectors.
The funeral of Albus Dumbledore was held beside a lake. Hundreds of chairs were laid out in front of a marble table. Prof. McGonagall as well as Harry Potter attended the funeral. The funeral took place on a warm summer day.
J.K. Rowling mostly focussed on Albus Dumbledore being a worthy recipient of the Order of Merlin award. The award is given out by Wizengamot, an organisation that was established long before the Ministry of Magic. The Wizengamot now functions as both the Parliament as well as the court.
There are three classes of the Order of Merlin award. The First Class award comes with a golden medal on a green ribbon; the Second Class award comes with a purple ribbon; and the Third Class award comes with a white ribbon. The award is given to commemorate the most famous wizard of his time. The green ribbon is supposed to represent the house that Merlin was a part of when he was at Hogwarts. House Slytherin uses the green colour.
However, not all recipients of the Order of Merlin award may have deserved it. J.K. Rowling talks about how the Ministry of Magic may be influencing who gets the award. The wizarding community is said to have been skeptical when Cornelius Fudge was given the prestigious award.
No one is said to have disagreed when Albus Dumbledore received the award. The wizard made a name for himself by defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald. The other less worthy recipient of the award in the "Harry Potter" world is said to be Sirius Black's grandfather.
