J.Lo splits with long-term boyfriend Casper Smart after five years of dating

After an unexpected long-term relationship, Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart have finally called it quits. The two have not been together for weeks, despite subtle gestures saying otherwise.

It was back in 2011, just a few months after her split with then-husband Marc Anthony, that Lopez met the dancer-choreographer. And while initial speculation was that it was simply a fling, the two eventually silenced even the biggest doubters, despite their 18-year age gap.

The news is coming from People Magazine, after a source of the publication stated that Lopez and Smart “have not been together for weeks.” Reportedly, the split was very amicable, and the two continue to see each other and have even remained friends.

A representative of Lopez has stated no comment on the breakup rumours, while a representative from Smart has declined to provide one.

TMZ reiterates that sources from Lopez’s camp have alleged that the two are no longer seeing each other. However, the publication also claims that sources from Smart’s side have denied that the breakup has happened at all.

If the allegations are true, then Smart’s recent actions only prove that the he and Lopez really have managed to stay good friends. On Aug. 13, Smart attended a performance of Lopez in Las Vegas. He was joined by Anthony and his current wife Shannon De Lima.

In addition, Smart posted a thoughtful birthday message for Lopez just one month ago, where he called her his “supporter, rock, partner in crime and love.”

Despite their doubtful beginning, Lopez and Smart truly have gone a long way, and their breakup is coming as quite a shock. In the years the two have been together, they spoke highly of each other while relatively keeping their relationship away from the public eye. Lopez even admitted that Smart had a big part in the lives of her 8-year-old twins with Anthony, Max and Emme.
