Joan Rivers Health Update: Comedienne On Life Support, Daughter Melissa Rivers 'In Denial', Outpouring Of Get-Well Wishes -- Reports
Joan Rivers, American T.V. presenter and stand-up condition, is reportedly on life support. She still remains in a medically induced coma, according to reports.
On Thursday, the comedienne, 81, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, Manhattan after she stopped breathing during a throat surgery at a clinic. She was reportedly undergoing a vocal-cord surgery.
Citing a source who is close to Joan, TMZ reports that the acerbic comedianne is "completely reliant on machines to stay alive."
Melissa Rivers, 46, the only child of Joan River, flew in from Los Angeles with her teenage son, Cooper, to be at her mother's bedside. According to TMZ's sources, the family may have to decide soon on how long to keep Joan on life support.
TMZ also reports that it has been told that Joan's family is hoping that the octogenarian comedienne will "fight through it" and get better if they have to take the decision to turn off the machines.
Meanwhile, New York Daily News is reporting that Melissa is "in denial" about her mother's condition. "She still thinks everything is going to be OK. She is refusing to admit that a world might exist without her mother in it," a source close to the Rivers family said to New York Daily News.
There has been an outpouring of messages from celebrities on social media, wishing Joan a speedy recovery. Charlie Sheen said: "Please come back to us young lady.
