Joan Rivers Laughed About Throat Procedure And Joked About Death Before Operation
Comedienne Joan Rivers thought that the throat procedure she would undergo was no big deal. She was even laughing about it the night before the procedure, a friend and colleague shared. Unfortunately, it landed her in a coma.
Talking to reporters outside Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, Jay Redack, a writing partner Joan River worked with before, claimed that Joan told him the throat procedure was necessary but it was not that of a big deal, Page Six reports.
"She said her throat was bothering her for a long time. Her voice was getting more raspy, if that was possible. She said she was just going in for a little procedure in the morning, that was it," said Jay.
The comedienne talk show host is currently on life support after being rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital when she stopped breathing during her throat operation.
"What's ironic is at dinner [Wednesday night], we were talking about who goes first. I've know Joan so damn long. I said, 'Here's what I'll leave you if I go first. What'll you leave me?' She said, 'I'll think about it,' " shared the long time friend and colleague.
Jay also shared that he walked Joan Rivers home that night and that was the last time he saw her. The writer described Joan as being very lively and funny during dinner. They could not stop laughing at so many things. The friend, however, cannot visit Joan since she has been hospitalized. Tight security makes it impossible.
The writer joked that the funny and straightforward E! talk show host would have loved the media circus outside the hospital.
The circus outside her hospital is not that surprising. The talk show host made a serious name for herself in the industry and she is certainly well-loved by her celebrity friends. NY Daily News reports that a host of celebrities such as Kelly Osbourne, Donald Trump, Lena Dunham and many, many more others, took to Twitter to air their prayers and optimism that the host would come off her condition well and healthy. They are all rooting for her to pull through.
