Joaquin Phoenix Reveals Engagement With Yoga Instructor To David Letterman
Joaquin Phoenix revealed that he was engaged to his yoga instructor. The "Her" actor opened up about his personal life on the Late Show With David Letterman on Monday.
Phoenix surprised everyone by disclosing his engagement even though there was an air of confusion if he was serious about the declaration. Even Letterman was sceptical about the announcement made by Phoenix who had a history of deceiving the legendary TV host. Phoenix made his appearance on the show in New York City as he looked dashing in a white dress shirt, a black tie and a black suit. Phoenix told the 67-year-old host that his yoga instructor had informed him they would get into the "harnessing the hog" position.
The "Walk The Line" actor explained the yoga move by saying that all of those had "weird animal names." Letterman, on the other hand, commented that Phoenix might be talking about a "carnival ride" and not about yoga positions. However, Phoenix seemed adamant to prove his point as he went to the floor to demonstrate the yoga move he was talking about. Daily Mail reported that Phoenix had got into a "compromising and vulnerable position" on the floor. Letterman had to leave his chair to have closer look to the position while the audience started giggling because of the "symbolic" move with Phoenix on his side crossing the legs to expose his derriere.
Phoenix also said that his yoga instructor had pulled him up with a strap. When he complained of a back pain, she was quick to diagnose it as "emotional back pain." Phoenix then revealed the "crazy part of the story" about his engagement. He said that he though her to be "the one." When he proposed to his yoga instructor, she said "yes." The "Gladiator" star asked his host if it had reflected poorly on him to propose to his yoga instructor. "You let her harness the hog. What are you going to do after your hog has been harnessed?" Letterman quipped.
When Letterman asked Phoenix about his wedding plans, the actor said that he would think about it if everything worked out. "But yeah, it appears... so far, so good," E! Online quoted Phoenix.
