Disney power couple Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato have split after only a few months of dating but contrary to reports and rumours, they did not break up over the phone.

Lovato took to her Twitter account to clear the air about her very recent ex-beau. "I'd like to clear a few things up. First, Joe and I did split but it wasn't over the phone. Things didn't work out but we'll remain friends," she tweeted.

Jonas created a stir in 2008 when he dumped country sweetie Taylor Swift over a "27-second phone call". Swift has since poked fun at the incident in an appearance on popular television show, 'Saturday Night Live'.

Lovato was quick to dispel any thoughts of her already moving on. "Secondly, I am NOT dating anybody already. Nothing is more important to me than the relationship I have with my fans. Just thought you guys should know this."

The middle JoBro also cleared up rumours and gave his side of the story. He told People.com, "Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one."

"I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now," said Jonas, who also confirmed that he was the one who initiated the break up. "I love her as a friend. She's been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her."

The ex-couple met in 2007 while on the set of Disney television movie, 'Camp Rock'. Despite the split, they will still be spending time together this summer as Lovato will join The Jonas Brothers on tour.
