The YouTube video of Joey Ayala's version of 'Lupang Hinirang', the national anthem of Philippines, has gone viral.

The Filipino songwriter and singer has been, in fact, widely praised by many online users for his so-called 'tampered' version the national anthem. Ayala demonstrated his own version of the national anthem in an extremely articulate manner at a self-organised function at Diliman, Quezon City, at the University of the Philippines School of Economics on Oct 13.

According to the YouTube description of the video, you are never going to sing the original national anthem after you listen to Ayala's inspired version of the anthem. The singer has additionally given an equally inspiring talk while performing an acoustic version of his rendition. Ayala corrected the pronunciation of a few words as he changed one word from the original version of the national anthem of Philippines. The YouTube video is uploaded by TEDx where x means independently organised TED event.

The video has already managed to get over 400,000 hits in just a couple of days. On the other hand, it is illegal to change or tamper with the national anthem of Philippines, according to Section 37 of the Republic Act No. 8491, Zeibiz reports.

Ayala was the former chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the country. He is known for creating a fusion of modern music with ethnic instruments from Philippines. He has released 14 albums so far. Ayala mentions during his performance that music is capable of helping people gain different experience or catch them engaged in habits which are productive no more.

Even though he acknowledged that he was getting engaged in an illegal act by trying to change the words of the national anthem, he said that the change of words might incite a renewed reflection on the national anthem.

Rappler said that Ayala's version of 'Lupang Hinirang' is definitely going to make every Filipino proud. Whether the nation agrees or not is worth waiting for.
