“American Idol” Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson recently visited Sirius XM’s Hits 1 to perform a cover of the 1995 hit “Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman. The performance was published on YouTube on March 18 and has since been viewed almost 1 million times.

“Give Me One Reason” is considered Chapman’s biggest hit to date. Chapman performed the song on “Saturday Night Live” in 1989, six years before it was released on her 1995 album “New Beginning.”

Meanwhile, Clarkson went into hiatus after giving birth to River Rose, her eight-month-old daughter with music manager husband Brandon Blackstock. Recently, she is back with her seventh studio album titled “Piece By Piece.”

Among the 13 tracks in “Piece By Piece” is “Run Run Run” featuring her “Duets” co-star John Legend, who recently won awards from Academy Awards and Golden Globes for the “Selma” soundtrack “Glory.” He shared the awards with Common.

At SXSW, Legend told Entertainment Tonight that for him, Clarkson is one of the best singers in the industry. He said, “When she reached out to me, I thought it was an easy decision. I thought the song was great and it'd be great to reunite with my old friend from ‘Duets.’”

Prior to this, Clarkson made headlines after claiming that she is willing to collaborate with any artists but nobody seems interested in teaming up with her. Watch her own rendition of “Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman here:
