Angelina Jolie is so feminine and charming, while Johnny Depp is winning.

That's how the director of the upcoming thriller "The Tourist" described two of Hollywood's most sought-after stars. Florin Henckel von Donnersmarck says Jolie and Depp are much more actors than they are stars.

The Oscar-winner sat down with MTV News to talk about his latest film based on the French thriller "Anthony Zimmer." Hollywood's Angelina Jolie, Paul Bettany and Johnny Depp co-stars in the film shot in Venice.

Despite having to "keep the real details secret," the director von Donnersmarck told MTV that the thriller is also a love story.

"A woman... elegant and sophisticated and educated and has lived in that world and now, through a whole set of circumstances, suddenly falls in love with a guy who is not any of those things," von Donnersmarck told MTV. "It just somehow confuses her whole world because that was not meant to happen."

Angelina's character, says the director, had a grand masterplan that neither Depp's character of Angelina's thought it was possible to fall in love with each other.

Despite winning an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, the director is not the first to come to mind when people talk about an Jolie-Bettany-Depp starrer. So, how did he managed to get three of Hollywood 's brightest stars to appear on his film?

"I think if you create a part in the screenplay and what you describe to actors where they can show some of their acting muscle, then great actors will be attracted to those parts and will be game for it," von Donnersmarck explained.

The Austrian-German director stressed that stars like Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are "actors with a capital 'A'" and the roles in the film are fits the acting range of the two stars.

"[People] forget that what they are, really, are actors. They're actors with a capital "A," but they're much more actors than they are stars, and I think that these parts were just right for them as actors. They can really show what they can do," Lives of Others director said.

"Angelina is so charming and delicate and feminine and strong and everything at the same time. [Angelina] saw that she could really be able to do something with that part."

The screenwriter-director also has high praises for Johnny Depp, describing the actor as showing his own complexity for the part.

"He's so winning, so charming, so funny, like he is in real life. I think in many ways, this part is quite close to who he is in real life. He is the most funny and charming person you'll have ever met."

In the movie, an American tourist played by Johnny Depp is used by Angelina Jolie's character in an attempt to flush out a criminal with whom she once had an affair. The Tourist is scheduled to be released later this year on December 10th.
