Jon Hamm, Jennifer Westfeldt on 'tough times' following split
Jon Hamm and ex-girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt are reportedly having a difficult time with the split. A source has confirmed that the ex-couple are still trying to come to terms with the separation especially since they were together for 18 years before the breakup.
US Weekly caught up with “Man Men” creator Matthew Weiner during the 2015 Creative Arts Emmys held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 12, where he talked about the ex-couple. Weiner said Westfeldt and Hamm are having difficulty dealing with their breakup.
“It’s a tough time for [both of them]. I know both of them very well. They are both really gifted artists and it’s rough. But it’s also — it was a very long relationship,” he said.
Jennifer and Jon reportedly began dating in 1997 after they met through a mutual friend. They lived together for those years they were together but never got married. Another source told US Weekly that before announcing their split, they had tried hard to work on their relationship. It’s believed their views on family caused the breakup.
“There’s always been a rift. Because he wanted kids and she didn’t,” the source told the publication.
Another source told Entertainment Online, or ET, that Jon and Jennifer have actually already split for months even before they made the announcement. The actress reportedly got tired of always looking out for Jon. The source claimed Jennifer got “tired of being his mother.”
"Jon and Jennifer really fought hard to make their relationship work, Jennifer more so than Jon. They were together for many years, but in the end, it was too much work. It's no secret that Jon likes to go out and leads a very party-heavy lifestyle. And Jennifer was just tired of that. She wanted him to grow up … and he never wanted to,” the source told ET.
Hamm and Westfeldt announced their split on Sept. 7 after 18 years of being together. In a joint statement, the ex-couple expressed their “great sadness” over the separation but said they “will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward.”
