"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart is 2010's Most Influential Man of 2010 according to AskMen readers. Stewart topped AskMen's annual list of most influential male figures. AskMen, which boasts 16 million-strong readership, asked which male figure makes the biggest impact on society.

The naming of Jon Stewart as the most influential did not seat all too well with everybody. Los Angeles Times Ministry of Gossip questioned the result of the poll, writing "sure, we can debate the validity of this poll (um, last year's winner, Don Draper from "Mad Men," isn't even a real person -- no matter how much we wish otherwise)." Then proceeded to encourage its readers to vote in its own "unscientific" poll, from a list of AskMen's Top 10 most influential men. At present, Kanye West leads, with Jon Stewart in far second.

Why did Jon Stewart top the list of influential men?

Jacob Bronsther of AskMen wrote of Jon Stewart's influence: "Stewart's influence derives from the fact that declaring leaders or policies funny is to criticize them, to point out their irrationality or the incongruence between our expectations regarding good leadership and reality."

"Biting political commentary is mixed up with innocuous jokes."

"Indeed, the fact that Stewart makes us laugh -- and he does, if The Daily Show's ratings have a say in the matter -- is a damning statement on our current political environment."

Microsoft's Bill Gates, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Apple's Steve Jobs and rapper Kanye West made it to the Top 5 in AskMen's list of influential men. US President Barack Obama dropped from No. 4 to No. 21 while golfer Tiger Woods was booted out of the list. For the complete list of AskMen's 49 Most Influential Men, click here.
