Jose Mourinho is adamant Chelsea will not sell Diego Costa even with rumours that Atletico Madrid is interested in the 27-year-old striker.

“He is happy here. He’s another one who has, I think, three more years [on his] contract. I see him staying at Chelsea for three more years, no problem. I see that,” Mourinho stated via nbcsports.com.

Mourinho insisted as well that even with a buyout clause in his contract, he does not believe that Costa meant that he will force Chelsea to let him go.

“He didn’t say that. He said in football you never know. Atletico is a great club. Madrid is a great city. La Liga is a great league. So why can’t a player at 27 years old think that in football it’s possible to be back? I don’t see that as a problem,” the 52-year-old Portuguese manager added.

The pressure is on Mourinho in the current Premier League season with Chelsea struggling all year long. Through 16 matches played, they have measly 15 points after 4 wins, 3 draws and 9 losses.

The controversial striker, who previously represented Brazil in international competitions but is now part of the Spanish national team, was suspended for three matches earlier in the 2015-2016 season due to “violent conduct” on the pitch. Many pundits consider Costa as one of the dirtiest players in the Premier League.

Chelsea has only one win in the last seven matches and Mourinho’s status with the team has been a hot topic in recent months despite a newly-signed four year deal with the team at the start of the 2015-2016 season.
