All it took was a three goal comfortable victory against Watford for Jose Mourinho to turn soft. In the last few weeks when his high flying Chelsea began to stutter and Manchester City caught up with them he accused the referees to be a part of a campaign to disrupt his team's performance. Last week it turned ugly when he put the blame of the Barclays Premier League match loss to Totenham Hotspurs on referee Phil Dowd.

He made eight changes to his side from the last Barclays Premier League match that Chelsea played. The changes could not impress either the manager or the fans. Till half time Chelsea were not threatening enough to justify their position at the top of the Premier League table.

At the start of the second half he introduced Willian and Diego Costa. That seemed to have done the trick for the home side with William scoring in the 58th minute, Loic Remy in the 70th and Zouma in the 72th minute.

The flash point in the match came in the 70th minute. Watford's Catchcart clearly handled the ball inside the box but the referee did not blow his whistle. The resultant ricochet fell kindly for Loic Remy to double his side's advantage in the match.

Just after the final whistle Mourihno tore into the referee Kevin Friend for being a part of the same alleged campaign. Soon afterwards he seemed to have a change of heart after having a chat with the referee. A win seems to have cooled Mourinho down.

"I want to apologise for my comments in some TV interviews", he later clarified. He went on to say that Kevin Friend demonstrated great refereeing by playing advantage. Mourinho was apparently assured that the referee had spotted the penalty and would have awarded the kick if the advantage was not forthcoming.
