Jose Mourinho Unhappy Eden Hazard Let Didier Drogba Take Penalty
Jose Mourinho was unhappy to see Eden Hazard agree to let Didier Drogba take Chelsea's first penalty against NK Maribor in a Champions League clash. When the Chelsea men were awarded a penalty during the first half of the Tuesday's Group G encounter, Drogba asked Chelsea's regular spot-kick specialist, Hazard to allow him to mark his second spell at the club. It was his first since winning spot-kick against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena in May 2012.
After Loic Remy scored with 13 minutes remaining on the clock, Chelsea men did not waste time in stamping their authority on the game. Drogba was able to score from the penalty spot in the 23rd minutes. Chelsea remained to be in control at the top of Group G for a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Since returning to the Stamford Bridge, the 36-year-old Drogba had not scored in his first six appearances and his last strikes for the club was during the Champions League final victory back in 2012. Hazard is Chelsea's first choice penalty taker and Drogba revealed after the match that he asked the Belgian to let him take the spot-kick to score the first goal at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard revealed that it was normal for him to say yes when Didier asked as he had been trying to score for a while. He further said that Didier has come back to the club of his heart hence he let him take the penalty.
Chelsea manager Mourinho admitted that he is not particularly happy at what happened. "Yeah, I was surprised. I wasn't particularly pleased because I have my choices and Eden is the first choice," Mourinho told ITV. "After that it is Drogba, Oscar, Fabregas and Diego Costa, if Eden is not on the pitch." "But because it was a goal I'm happy with that."
Meanwhile, Hazard claimed that his team, Chelsea will be aiming for all three points against the Manchester United on Sunday, taking into consideration that the club is not at its best.
