Fergie, the female voice of the super successful Black Eyed Peas, has officially and legally changed her name on August 16 from the ordinary-sounding Stacy Ann Ferguson to the stellar Fergie Duhamel, a nod to her husband Josh Duhamel. But while it was a sweet gesture and all, the "Transformers" actor didn't even know his wife was planning to change her name until he read it online.

According to the documents she filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in July, which were obtained by TMZ, Fergie wanted to change her birth name to "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years."

No one has called her Stacy in years, and Fergie just wanted to identify with her present name. She also wanted to take Duhamel as her professional and legal name since being married to her husband in January 2009.

Josh, meanwhile, wasn't aware that Fergie had followed through with her plan of changing her name.

"I actually found out [through the media]," the 40-year-old star told omg! "It was so sweet. It was her plan for a while, but she finally found the time.

"When the baby comes she wanted all of us to have the last name. It was very sweet."

Fergie, 38, is pregnant with the couple's first child. It was previously revealed that they are expecting a boy in late August or early September.

With a Grammy-winning mum and a box office-hit dad, their son will indeed become a Hollywood royalty. But that's not going to happen, according to Josh.

"It's really important to us that we don't raise an entitled little brat," he told People magazine.

"We want to raise a kid who's confident, compassionate, and it's really important that we do that, so it's important that I set a good example for him."

As for his pregnant wife, Josh only has one thing to say, "She's so damn cute."
