It looks like JR Smith will not be playing for his team for a little while. He has been suspended to play for five games because of his violation of the league's anti-drug policy.

JR Smith, the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year, was tested positive for the use of marijuana. According to the anti-drug policy of the most popular basketball league, any player who tested positive for the third time for the use of marijuana will get banned to play for five games. The punishment for initial offense requires the player to enroll in a program and a fine of $25,000 is to be paid by the player for the second offense. Apparently, this instance is Smith's third offense. Otherwise, he would not have been suspended at all.

The New York Knicks Sharpshooter is expected to miss the beginning of the basketball season because of a knee injury, however, the NBA management clearly stipulated that the five-game suspension will start at the time that he is in good physical shape to play.

Smith has already been suspended for 17 games by the NBA prior to his latest suspension. He was suspended for 10 games when he got into a brawl with the Knicks in 2006 and in 2009, he was banned to play for 7 games after he appealed guilty to a careless driving incident that resulted in the death of a passenger back in 2007.

RnB Singer Rihanna has also been rumoured to have a close relationship with Smith. She said that Smith was always partying, the reason of his "screwing up" in the playoffs. Rihanna, who has always been active with social networking site Instagram, posted once that Smith was hungover from partying and clubbing almost every night during the playoffs. Smith confirmed this behaviour and said that he might've really partied too many times and that he didn't pay much attention to basketball career.

Smith is his own worst enemy and he is no stranger to trouble, for sure! It is really not that surprising to hear that he has been banned from playing again. He can only hope that even he will not be able to play to support his team, the Knicks would be able to put an end to its championship drought this season.
