Jules Bianchi Latest Update: Driver's Mother Says People 'Shirking Responsibility' About The Accident
The mother of injured Formula One Driver Jules Bianchi has spoken up and said that people are "shirking responsibility" in relation to her son's accident. Christine Bianchi and her husband Philippe flew to Japan to be by their son's side following the accident and statements about the driver's situation have been shared jointly from the family members and the Marussia Formula One Team.
The first statement given by the family in the days immediately following the accident related mostly to his brain surgery and his stable but critical condition. Bianchi underwent surgery right after the race and has been taken to the ICU where he remains unconscious two weeks later.
The initial statement also thanked all the people who expressed their support for Jules and the family also lauded the exemplary care that the medical team has given the driver. In a recent interview given by Christine Bianchi to French broadcaster RTL and published by Express, her stand remains the same in saying that Jules is receiving the best possible care in the hands of his physicians at the hospital in Yokkaichi, Japan. Beyond that, the distressed parent is careful with her words.
"I can't say anything more, apart from about the criticisms. You know, some people say things to shirk their responsibilities." said Christine. She didn't elaborate on which people she meant to be shirking responsibilities but criticism has been thrown around at many groups following the accident.
Bianchi suffered a high speed crash in the 44th lap of the Japanese Grand Prix that was held at the Suzuka racing circuit last October 5. The race was held under less than ideal conditions as the track had been wet all weekend due to an incoming storm. The FIA and the local organisers have since been criticised for not starting the race earlier to avoid the brunt of the storm. In the same way, the deployment of the safety car following Adrian Sutil's accident has been questioned because the corner was only put under yellow flags while the recovery vehicle was removing Sutil's car from the run-off area.
"F1. It's a business. A very big business." commented Christine when she was asked if was being forced not to say anything more. Needless to say, any accident causes a negative effect to the sport and its related businesses. Long-standing Formula One sponsor DHL had already been in hot water and was forced to apologise after a Facebook post asking for likes in support of Jules was deemed insensitive and opportunistic by some fans.
