Julianne Moore is a strong woman known for her brilliant performances. She has taken on the role of President Alma Coin in the action-packed film The Hunger Games. Though she is 53, she looks fit and fantastic. Her challenging roles require for her to lose weight and look her best.
People Magazine reported that Moore follows a low carb diet and practices yoga on a daily basis. She told the magazine that though she used to follow juice cleanses but saw no effect. "I did a juice cleanse for the Golden Globes one year. I think I did it for three days. To be honest, the only weight I lost was in my brain!" Moore joked.
For her, fitness is not just about workouts or diets, she said that it is in everything you do. The Inquisitr reported that the star does a combination of running and lifting light weights. She has a trainer who helps her through her physical workouts.
She told People magazine that she prefers yoga because it is much more quiet and calm and she can do it in her house as well. She admitted that she does not like noisy workouts and it is too loud for her. In an interview with the Health magazine, she said that she does yoga two to three times a week. She specifically practices the Ashtanga yoga.
Ashtanga yoga is also known as power yoga and has several benefits. It has positive effects not only on the body but the mind as well. It improves flexibility, boosts stamina and endurance. This is what Moore would require for her physically challenging role in The Hunger Games.
Her diet too is healthy and helps her stay in shape. She follows a low-carb diet and believes that it helps in more than just weight loss. She increases her protein intake through salads and kale, she told Flare magazine. She does not eat bread and limits the consumption of red meat. Instead, she prefers fish. "Bread is one thing that has to go," she said.
The Guardian reported that the movie, The Hunger Games, is set to release on Nov 21.
