The Junior MasterChef is set to premiere this Sunday and everybody is already on the watch whether the kids will perform better in the Australian reality cook show. Host Anna Gare says the kids handled the pressures of the competition much better than the adult competitors, for now, at least in one area: elimination.

"There were a few disappointed tears, but every kid that left went away with a big smile," Gare told Herald Sun.

More or less 5,000 applicants vied for a spot in the competition. The applicants' age ranged from eight to twelve years old. Gare says the younger lot is a lot calmer than their adult counterpart.

The Ten Network sped up Junior MasterChef deciding to premiere the show on September. The program was not expected until after the Commonwealth Games in October. Viewers were treated to a short preview of the new show during the finale of MasterChef Australia. It was revealed that Junior MasterChef contestant even outperformed some adults on the original.

Ten Network said the hype surrounding the new series assures it will be a stand-out.

"We were completely blown away by the response to the sizzle I put in the finale, everyone's been raving about it," David Mott, Ten's director of programming, said. "We're absolutely delighted by the kids and it's one that's going to surprise. They are going to show the adults up -even the ones on the original series."
