Just before Tom Hanks’ ‘Inferno’ hits theatres, Robert Langdon returns on Dan Brown’s upcoming novel ‘Origin’
Just before Tom Hanks’ “Inferno” hits theatres this October, his Robert Langdon character is set to return next year with the publication of Dan Brown’s new novel “Origin.”
The “Da Vinci Code” author is set to release his next thriller novel on Sep. 26, 2017 under Bantam Press. An e-book version of the novel will also be available from Penguin House Audio.
Brown’s “Inferno” is set to hit theatres worldwide on Oct. 12. The film follows Langdon, played by “Sully” actor Tom Hanks, as the symbologist-professor uncovers a plot in Venice, Italy, to decimate the world’s population.

Aside from the “Da Vinci Code” and “Inferno,” the 52-year-old novelist was behind the best-selling fiction “The Lost Symbol,” “Angels and Demons,” “Deception Point,” and “Digital Fortress.”
Hanks debuted his Robert Langdon character when he filmed “The Da Vinci Code” in 2006 after the novel sold multimillion copies worldwide since its 2003 release. Meanwhile, “Inferno” ranked first on the New York Times’ Best Seller list for the first 11 weeks upon its release in May 2013.
For his part, Hanks' "Sully" made a blockbuster success as soon as the film hit theatres early September. The Clint Eastwood-directed movie is a biographical accout of the 2009 "Miracle on Hudson," which centers on how US Airways pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger led the successful water landing of US Airways flight 1549 on the icy Hudson River in the middle of winter in New York.
