Since his neighbours don't want him speeding his Ferrari in their community, Justin Bieber is taking his need for speed in space. The 19-year-old tween heartthrob will be boarding a rocketship heading to space.

The controversial pop star and his manager Scooter Braun have signed up for an out of this world flight with Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo, which will travel 62 miles above the Earth.

Sir Richard Branson welcomed the two to his space program, tweeting, "Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingaalactic future astronauts. Congrats, see you up there!"

Bieber then retweeted the message, adding, "2richardbranson @scooterbraun @virgingalactic let's shoot a music video in SPACE!! #nestLEVEL"

The singer is the latest celebrity to book a seat in the space voyage. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ashton Kutcher, and Tom Hanks have reportedly paid the hefty $250,000 ticket to the suborbital flight.

After Branson's space voyager completed its first test run last month, the company is now ready for commercial flights.

It's not known when Bieber's spaceflight will take place.

At least he wouldn't get in trouble for speeding in space. Back here on earth, the Canadian singer has reportedly earned the ire of his neighbours in the gated community of Calabasas in California after two separate speeding incidents.

In March, he allegedly threatened a neighbour and spit in his face after the man confronted him about speeding in his Ferrari.

And just last month, there were witnesses attesting that they saw Bieber driving in dangerous speed. One of those witnesses was former NFL superstar Keyshawn Johnson, who chased the young singer with his Prius to confront him. But Bieber allegedly ran like a scared little child to his home and refused to come out.

His camp later denied that he was the one driving, but Johnson was adamant of what he saw.
