Justin Bieber Earns More Money Than One Direction; Tops Forbes' List Of Highest Earning Celebs Under 30 Years Of Age
The year 2014 has not been a great year for Justin Bieber on the personal front as the singer has been getting into a lot of legal troubles involving drug racing, paparazzi hitting and much more. However, the 20-year-old has had a successful year financially and has made it to the top of the list of Forbes highest earning celebrities under 30 years of age.
With an estimated US$80 million in earnings in the year 2014, the "Baby" hit maker is the highest earning celebrity under 30, according to Forbes.com. Justin has mostly been involved in legal troubles all throughout the year 2014 where he had tiffs with paparazzi, was slapped with allegations of insulting a country's flag and resisting arrest while driving recklessly in Miami. The smiling mugshot of the singer taken in jail became an instant hit on social media. The singer had to shell out a whopping US$80,000 in fines as a result of charges rising from throwing eggs at his neighbour's house. Owing to his irrational behaviour, Bieber was also ordered to perform community service and attend anger management classes.
The top 10 highest earning celeb list of the financial magazine is dominated by singers/musicians with Jennifer Lawrence being the only actress to be featured among nine musicians. "The Hunger Games" actress comes in at No. 7 in the list. Her latest film "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" hit theaters last Friday and has grossed $123 million at the U.S. box office. The Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth starrer movie has topped this year's opening weekend beating "Transformers: Age of Extinction's" $100 Million opening.
The other musicians to be featured on the Forbes highest earning list are popular boy band One Direction who raked in US$75 million in earnings in the years 2014. This year, the boys earning mostly happened from their latest album "Midnight Memories" that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Next on the list of highest-earning celebrities is "Red" singer Taylor Swift who took home US$64 million in earnings. Other artists on the list include "Gorilla" singer Bruno Mars and "Disturbia" songstress Rihanna. Both of them earned US$60 million and $US48 million in annual earnings, respectively.
