Justin Bieber is giving Batman fans a heart attack after apparently implying that he has been cast in the upcoming film “Batman Vs Superman.” On Friday, the Canadian tween heartthrob posted an Instagram photo of him and what appeared to be a script of the controversial film, complete with his name watermarked across it.

“#robin ??” he captioned his photo.

The photo was met with overwhelming negative reactions online, with perhaps only his Beliebers staunchly defending his possible Robin role.

Batman fans are already on edge after it was announced in August that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in the “Man of Steel” sequel. Many have doubted that Affleck, who played blind superhero Daredevil in the 2003 film, would be a good match for the role that was previously held by Michael Keaton and Christian Bale.

So it’s understandable when fans went berserk, and not in a good way, when director Zack Snyder released a statement to reveal that Affleck would provide an “interesting counter-balance to Henry’s [Cavill] Superman.”

But DC comics fans need not panic just yet. Earlier on Friday, Bieber also hinted that he was doing a spoof for the comedy video Web site Funny or Die, which could probably mean that the whole Robin-Batman role was just a joke.

Off to do something funny or...die :)

It’s still unclear if Bieber has truly landed a role on “Batman Vs Superman,” but the odds are unlikely at this stage, at least comic book fans are hoping that it’s unlikely.

The already controversial superhero flick is scheduled to commence production in 2014 and is slated for release on July 17, 2015.

“Man of Steel” stars Cavill (who played the title role in the 2013 film, will reprise his role, as well as co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.
