Justin Bieber Responds to 2nd Racist Video with Bible Verses
Justin Bieber opted to counter his new racism scandal with bible verses. The 20-year-old Canadian singer is facing another scandal after a new clip of him joking about killing “n******” has surfaced.
On Tuesday, UK tabloid The Sun reported that a fresh clip of the singer has emerged, in which he can be heard changing the lyrics of his song “One Less Lonely Girl” to “one less lonely n*****.” He also sang about joining the white supremacist group Ku Klux Klan.
TMZ then released the said video. Bieber was said to be just 14 years old when that was shot.
Bieber’s latest controversy follows just a few days after another video of him starting a racist joke was leaked online.
In the first video, shot in 2011 when he was 15, Bieber is heard saying, “Why are black people afraid of chain saws?” before answering, “Run n*****, n*****, n*****.”
He has issued an apology for the first video, owning up to his mistake, which he attributed to his immaturity.
“I thought it was okay to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realise at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance,” he said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press.
With the emergence of the second video, the tween heartthrob has decided to just put up a screenshot of a page from the book “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young.
“When your sins weigh heavily upon you, come to Me. Confess your wrongdoing, which I know all about before you say a word. Stay in the Light of My Presence, receiving forgiveness, cleansing, and healing,” the first text of the screenshot page reads.
“Man’s tendency is to hide from his sin, seeking refuge in the darkness. There he indulges in self-pity, denial, self-righteousness, blaming, and hatred. But I am the Light of the world, an My illumination decimates the darkness. Come close to Me and let My Light envelop you, driving out darkness and permeating you with Peace.”
The page also includes three bible verses from the New Testament.
Bieber did not caption the Instagram photo.
His manager, Scooter Braun, also posted a text on Instagram, which reads, “Some mistakes have no excuses. They are just wrong. But how a man reacts to those mistakes... How he owns it and learns from it... That defines him more than the mistake itself.”
