Justin Bieber's Movie “Believe” to be Screened for Toronto Film Festival 2013
Believe it or not and haters are surely going to hate, but the latest addition of film to be screened for the upcoming Toronto Film Festival of 2013 is Justin Bieber's movie "Believe," as reported by Deadline.
"Believe" was directed by Jon Chu who also directed Bieber's "Never Say Never". According to the director, he shot "Believe" discreetly to stay true to the movie being a documentary. The documentary tells of Bieber's journey into becoming a celebrity that he is today.
In an Apr 2013 interview with The Los Angeles Times, director Chu shared the excitement behind shooting for the film.
"The song itself is about someone who he's dating who doesn't like the lights - it just evolved from there. We thought it'd be fun to have a secret service team - a special-ops unit - going after him with cameras."
Obviously, Chu had a different perspective about Bieber. When asked about Bieber's infamous image associated with his conflicts with paparazzi, Chu hinted that he looked at it as something that comes with Bieber's superstardom.
"I don't envy that position in any way. I understand where the paparazzi is coming from and where he's coming from. It's a hard place to be: in the middle."
Chu explained that the documentary "Believe" chronicles the life of Bieber when he was still an "underdog." The documentary first show Bieber's humble beginning in Canada until he reached international stardom through his 2010 "My World Tour."
"It started as just a concert movie but we've got so many other things now. We have footage of him writing the first song for his next album on a piece of paper with a pencil. Blank page, erasing, writing. That's where it starts. You get to see the creative process of making songs under this kind of pressure. Getting producers, writing some things, throwing some things out. Choosing the first single, going into your album. And then once you do that, you've got to put on a show," Mr Chu fondly shared.
As for the Bieber fans, the film is an offering of Bieber's behind-the-scene persona as he writes his own song at as he aspires to make a shift to a more mature chapter in his career.
