The Justin Trudeau, Prince William, Kate Middleton meeting is finally happening; kids' playdate with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the works
Kensington Palace has yet to confirm on the Canadian PM's invitation
Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada just made an invitation to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge for them to visit Canada. The invitation also extends to Princess Charlotte and Prince George so that the kids will have a playdate with Trudeau’s children.
However, confirmation has not yet been given by the Kensington Palace on the visit, the National Post shares. Nonetheless, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that a formal invitation was extended to the Royal family coming from Canada’s Prime Minister.
Andrée-Lyne Hallé, press secretary for Trudeau, shared to Huffington Post Canada that the Prime Minister invited Kate and William to visit their country whenever their schedule allows them. The press secretary said that there are no confirmed dates yet on the upcoming visit. However, the Prime Minister’s Office is looking forward to an early fall trip this year.
The last time that Prince William and the Duchess Kate visited Canada was in the summer of 2011. It was for a honeymoon of sorts. That was their first visit as a couple two months after their wedding. They stayed in the country for nine days. They were seen to participate in varied Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa. They also walked the Calgary Stampede Parade. The royal couple also made a stop in Montreal, Charlottetown, Quebec City, Summerside, the Yukon and Slave Lake in Alberta.
It is reported that the nine-day visit of the royal couple to Canada cost more than $1.34 million (US$1 million). Despite the large expense, the visit was noted to be widely successful, this is because hundreds of thousands of Canadians came out to greet the royals. However, in Quebec, their visit prompted some small protests, Huffington Post Canada adds.
This time around, Kate and William are expected to bring their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. In fact, Canadians are now excited about the thought of having a royal playdate for the kids.
In a video by Huffington Post Canada, a series of pictures of both families were shown. The video enticed viewers that they should prepare to see lots of family pictures together and playdate pictures of Trudeau’s kids and William’s children together. More so, they encouraged people to be prepared for the cuteness of the upcoming playdate. The Prime Minister of Canada has three children, namely Xavier, 8, Ella-Grace, 7, and Hadrien, 2.
