Filmed over 12 months, ABC's "Kakadu" series premiered on October 6 as it features the life and death drama where man meets wild and nature calls the shots. The new four part series is set on the flood plains and ancient sculptured escarpments of Australia's lagest terrestrial national park.

"Kakadu" offers a combination of danger and great beauty as it goes behind the scene of this natural universe. A protected area in the Nothern Rerritory of Australia, Kakadu National park is a World Heritage Listed site at its most beguiling and magnificent.

But with its beauty and richness comes the danger of the wild with its deadly predators creeping around the surface and through the rugged stone towers. "Kakadu" features a deep insight from a rangers' perspective and the scientist that devote their lives to study the elemental power of nature in its dramatic extremes.

The park's flora is one of the richest in nothern Australia with more than 1,700 plant sepcies recorded thanks to the park's geological, landform and habitat diversity. Insects, microscopic creatures, birds, reptiles and humans will have a part to play in nature's dance of life.

Occupied by aboriginal people for at least 40, 000 years, Kakadu National park offers more than 5,000 recorded art sites illustrating ancient Aboriginal culture. The Aboriginals are one of the significant features in the series as they try to fight for survival against other living things in the wild.

Deep in the heart of the living wilderness, the Kakadu crew is taken a year of intense filming to bring to live the story of survival of a man versus the unforgiving wild amidst the beauty of Kakadu National Park. The four-part epic series is a product of months of dedication working under the scourging heat of the sun and moon storms.

A story of rebirth, renewal and change; "Kakadu's" new season will feature one-of-a-kind drama and beauty where nothing is predictable but change. Episode 2 will be aired on October 13, Sunday at 7:30pm featuring Garry Linder, Andrew Wellings, Sarah Kerin and Kathy Wilson.
