Kanye West Rushed to the Hospital Hours Before Melbourne Show
Kanye West was rushed to the hospital just hours before he was due to perform in Melbourne on Wednesday. Kim Kardashian’s husband apparently suffered horrible migraine, but was able to recover in time to finish his show.
According to Woman’s Day, the 38-year-old U.S. singer was rushed to the Epworth Hospital in Richmond around 2 pm for an emergency MRI. One side of his face was covered as he was taken through the back entrance, surrounded by high security.
Witnesses said that patients were asked to move out of the waiting and consulting rooms so that West could be treated privately.
Lorraine Terry’s daughter was having her MRI when West’s team burst in the hospital. Everyone was moved out of the rooms, but Ms Terry and her daughter stayed because the MRI wasn’t finished yet.
“Next thing we knew, Kanye was stretchered in surrounded by security. He had one side of his face covered with something white. We both knew it was him because we had seen his photo in the paper everyday and we were shocked because it looked so serious,” she told the magazine.
The doctors initially thought that West suffered a seizure or was about to. He was ordered to have an MRI.
“At one stage, one of his security men saw my daughter, who was lying on the MRI machine, turn her head and he insisted she had to go. We were not even properly finished,” the witness continued.
Kardashian, who is also in the country to support West on his “Yeezus” tour, was not in the hospital.
It’s unknown what caused West’s emergency trip to the hospital, although TMZ sources claimed that he had a “pretty intense migraine” after playing basketball. He was released later after 4:30 pm and was able to perform at the Rod Laver Arena, where he berated the concert-goers who did not stand up during his performance.
Midway through “Good Life,” West let out a brief rant about people who weren’t dancing on their feet.
“I can’t go on with this song if there’s people in here sitting down unless y’all sitting down because y’all handicapped,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying. “Unless y’all have handicapped parking?”
One of his fans held up his crutches to prove that he is handicapped, to which West replied, “Okay, cool.”
However, there were still a few who were still sitting down, and West couldn’t let them enjoy the show that way.
“But they ain’t got no cast, them two right there,” he pointed at the two people sitting in the audience as the crowd started to boo.”
