Kanye West Squashes Twitter Beef With Jimmy Kimmel
As far as celebrity feuds go, there is no one better than Kanye West to elevate things to international news. When he took to Twitter to rant about Jimmy Kimmel's spoof of his BBC interview last Sept., things became a little heated between the two. All was forgiven (though certainly not forgotten) between the two when West appeared in Kimmel's show to clear the air and make peace with the late night talk show host.
Despite the obvious tension between the two, Kimmel did his best to make the environment friendlier but cracking well meaning jokes and showing a photo of his dad smiling with the rapper. This isn't to say that he didn't mention the video that started the feud between them. He admitted that he had not seen the original video of West speaking to the BBC but acted, instead, on his comedic instinct-- he just thought that it was funny seeing kids throw up the f word here and there.
West, for his part, was very candid as only he could be in the video. He brought up the fact that he also had not seen the whole spoof video but instead acted on anger. He commented that part of his twitter rage was just somewhat of a snowball effect. "Egos can flare up and we kind of just took it back to high school a bit. And I got beat up a lot in high school, so I didn't want to go back to high school." He has also since removed his angry tweets.
They did discuss a particular tweet, one that made Kimmel laugh-- a picture comparing the host to Spongebob Squarepants. Kimmel asked West if he really did think that he looked like the cartoon character, to which the New Slaves rapper just gave his characteristic Kanye shrug and said that it was just the first thing that came to mind.
The most intense part of the exchange was near the end when the segment ended with an impassioned speech from West on culture, media and basically everything that made him the target of Kimmel's video in the first place.
