Kanye West is reportedly being sued by former child star Ricky Spicer because his voice was used by West in the single "Bound 2" without asking for his permission to do so. Spicer filed a lawsuit on Dec. 23, 2013 against West in the Manhattan Supreme Court. Vincent Imbesi is Spicer's lawyer. 56-year-old Spicer was 12 years old and was the lead singer of the 1960s American soul group The Ponderosa Twins Plus One when he recorded the song "Bound" in 1971 for their "2+2+1=" album. Spicer is said to be asking West for payment or for a cease and desist order from using the "Bound 2" song featuring his vocals. Aside from West, recording companies Universal Music Group, Rhino Entertainment, Island Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella Records were also included in the lawsuit. Spicer claims that he was never contacted by West or any of the aforementioned recording companies to ask for permission to sample the original "Bound" track and his voice.

According to a report from the Brisbane Times, Spicer's lawsuit claims that his voice was sampled as it was recorded before. He was actually stunned to hear his voice when he chanced upon Kanye's "Bound 2" song on the radio.

''Mr Spicer's voice is sampled exactly as he recorded it and his voice ... is heard several times,'' stated Spicer's lawsuit against West and the recording companies in a report by the Brisbane Times.

Spicer was part of the group Ponderosa Twins Plus One, which is made up of two sets of twins. He was the "plus one." The group was even compared to the Jackson 5, with Spicer being dubbed as the group's Michael Jackson.

According to TMZ, they contacted Kanye's camp to comment on Spicer's lawsuit, but they didn't get a response. The same goes for Universal Music Group who also did not respond to requests for comment.

Kanye's single "Bound 2" also features samples from other songs and artists including Wee's "Aeroplane (Reprise)" and country singer Brenda Lee's "Sweet Nothin's." Unlike Spicer, Lee approved of Kanye's sampling of her song for "Bound 2." It sampled the line "Uh-huh, honey" which was written by Ronnie Self.
