Time has declared its list of best songs so far in 2013. The list includes big names like Kanye West, Daft Punk and James Blake. Going by the ever growing popularity of these songs, these may top the list even at the end of the year.

#1 "New Slaves"

Kanye West, the hip hop sensation from America performed this song. West is also the co-producer of the song along with Ben Bronfman while Che Pope, Sham Joseph, Noah Goldstein, Travis Scott and Mike Dean supply additional production. The song is about segregation and slavery. It also discussed major social issues like materialism, racism and other stereotypes if Afro-Americans in the U.S.

#2 Get Lucky

Daft Punk, the music dui from France, performs the song while it is co-written by Nile Rodgers. Pharell Williams features in the song as well. The song is an interesting combination of disco music and metaphysical lyrics. According to the artists, the song moves way beyond sexual chemistry. It searches for metaphysical connection with another human being.

#3 Retrograde

James Blake, the singer - songwriter and music producer from England, performs the song. It was released February 11, 2013 for digital download. Blake produced and wrote the song himself. The song was among the top 10 in Denmark and among the top 100 in UK.

#4 Song for Zula

Phosphorescent, the indie rock band from America, released their sixth album - Muchacho March 19, 2013.Matthew Houck self-produced the album while the single "Song for Zula" preceded the album. The song was highly acclaimed by the critics. On the other hand, it was hugely popular among the mass as well.

#5 Blurred Lines

Robin Thicke, the R&B artist from America, recorded the song. The song has got additional vocals from Pharell and T.I. the lyrics were written by all of them. The song topped the Billboard chart. So far, this has been the 2nd best-seller as a single after Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". Diane Martel directed the video for the song which got its release March 20, 2013.
