Kanye West's Yeezus Gets Rave Reviews
West to go on tour despite the recent birth of his child with Kim Kardashian
Kanye West is once again back in the spotlight after his pal Jay-Z stole the attention of music fans for the release of his latest opus Magna Carta Holy Grail on July 4th.
West is scheduled to go on tour for his sixth studio album, Yeezus, according to his longtime hip hop producer Mike Dean via Reddit AMA.
Yeezus was unveiled June 18th in the United States.A short-film based on the movie 'American Psycho' accompanied the release of Yeezus to promote the album. It stars his brother-in-law, Scott Disick (Kourtney Kardashian's partner).
What do critics say about the grammy-award winning hip hop artist's latest album?
Rolling Stone's Jon Dolan wrote "Yeezus is the darkest, most extreme music Kanye has ever cooked up, an extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind."
The Idolator's Carl Williot shared the same opinion and assessed "It's a 10-track blast of dystopian bangers." And that the hip hop artist has "turned out his loudest, angriest and most subversive album yet,"
While Billboard magazine's review stated that "Those looking for vintage soul sounds or even full-on raps from start to finish will be thrown several curves here. It's an album with numerous emotional layers as well. There are a few lighthearted moments, and cuts about love along with lust. But mostly, West is just plain mad-angry at naysayers, 'The Man' censoring his art, and even at his own celeb status."
Troy Cle of AllHipHop.com, on the other hand, opined "Yeezus adds up to be Kanye's most lyrically focused album yet."
