Kardashian Lashes Out at Critics: 'I Married For Love'
She's never been one to take a beating lying down, and a day after filing for divorce Kim Kardashian defends herself against negative press.
Twenty-four hours after news broke of her forthcoming divorce, the reality star takes to her official blog to address the rumors swirling about her supposedly sham marriage.
"First and foremost, I married for love," she wrote in a message to her supporters. "I can't believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!"
While she says she had pure intentions, she admits that she may have "rushed in to something too soon."
"I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn't get off when now I know I probably should have," Kardashian explained in the same blog entry. "I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship."
Kardashian, 31, also denied she made a ton of profit off her extravagant wedding to 26-year-old Kris Humphries.
Kardashian mom and manager Kris Jenner seconds her daughter's defense. "The misconception that's so annoying in the media and the press is that the wedding was a sham and she did it for the money," Kris told MTV in an interview for the radio show Sway in the Morning. "Kim didn't make any money off of this wedding. No. She didn't make five cents off of the wedding."
"She spent millions of dollars of her own money on a wedding," she continued. "It's tough when you have all the haters who have these licenses to say whatever they want and people don't know the facts."
Other members of the close-knit Kardashian brood were quick to offer similar words of support to their sister.
"Reading some these comments r so hurtful. Im grateful 4our (sic) fans who understand & r (sic) being respectful. Hate is disgusting. Love is everything," younger sister Khloe fired off in a tweet.
Kardashian received backlash after announcing her plans to divorce Humphries only 72 days after their $10 million nuptials.
"The whole wedding was a total hoax and a publicity stunt," an insider revealed to Radar Online in an exclusive interview. "It was great for ratings and it was an amazing money maker. That's it though, period."
The source adds that it's not a long shot for the tumultuous couple to stage another publicity stunt by getting back together. "It wouldn't surprise me, in the slightest, if Kim and Kris managed to 'reunite' and the divorce filing gets brushed aside as they go to counseling and couples therapy. "
Reports estimate the reality pair earned a total of $17.9 million from their wedding.
